Here's something I've noticed that no one talks about enough. The moment you finally let yourself be seen doing something well, the world rarely reacts the way your body braced for.
You expect judgment but instead you get curiosity. You expect to be picked apart but you get, more often than not, a quiet kind of relief from other people, because someone finally said the true thing plainly instead of making them guess at it. The fear of being seen is almost always louder than the actual consequence of being seen.
This doesn't mean visibility stops feeling uncomfortable. It just means the discomfort and the danger were never the same thing, even though your nervous system has spent years insisting they were. The work isn't to wait until it feels safe. It's to notice that it was never actually unsafe to begin with.
The fear arrives right on time. The danger, most of the time, never does.
